Blue Arrow Juniper Juniperus scopulorum is a top pick for gardeners wanting to bring some style to their outdoor areas. This eye-catching variety has a slender, upright form and gorgeous blue-green leaves. It works brilliantly in compact gardens or anywhere you need a bold vertical feature.
This juniper grows at a steady pace, getting to around 4-5 metres high while staying narrow at just 60-90 cm across. It’s great for cramped spaces or when you want to make a natural screen without using loads of room. The thick, vertical branches have lovely soft, scale-like needles that keep the tree looking good throughout the seasons.
Blue Arrow Juniper is a stunning evergreen that brings upright interest to gardens of all sizes. This tall, thin tree suits smaller plots perfectly and makes a real statement in bigger spaces too. Its sleek, column-like growth is brilliant for privacy barriers or adding shape to your planting scheme.
What makes Blue Arrow special is its thick, blue-green leaves that stay vibrant all year long. This fresh colour looks fantastic next to other plants and can liven up dull garden spots. The leaves are made of gentle, scale-like needles that give the tree a soft, textured look.
This juniper handles British conditions really well. Once it gets going, it copes with dry spells, so it won’t need much fuss from gardeners. Blue Arrow likes sunny spots best but manages fine in some shade, and it’s happy with most soil types if the water drains away properly.
It grows quite quickly compared to other conifers, reaching full size faster than you might think. This makes it perfect when you want a privacy screen or shelter belt without waiting ages. Blue Arrow keeps its neat, narrow shape naturally, so there’s not much trimming needed.
Junipers have been garden favourites for ages because they’re tough and useful. The Blue Arrow type, with its special upright look, gives this traditional plant a fresh feel. You can use it on its own as a feature, plant two to mark an entrance, or line several up for a living wall – Blue Arrow will add real character to your garden.
Juniper ‘Blue Arrow’ is a doddle to care for, which is great news for busy UK gardeners. It thrives in full sun but can handle partial shade too. The main thing is well-drained soil – it doesn’t like wet feet. When you first plant it, water regularly for the first growing season to help it settle in. After that, it’s quite drought-tolerant. You don’t need to feed it much – a light application of slow-release fertiliser in spring is plenty. Pruning isn’t usually necessary, but if you want to tidy it up, do it in late winter or early spring. Overall, with minimal care, your ‘Blue Arrow’ will stay healthy and looking good for years.
