Plant in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade, though the best colour and most compact growth occurs in sunny positions. This spruce tolerates a wide range of soil types including slightly acidic to neutral conditions, but avoid waterlogged ground which can lead to root problems.

Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, ‘Alberta Globe’ requires minimal watering except during prolonged dry periods. Container-grown specimens need more frequent watering, particularly in summer months.

Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in early spring to support healthy growth. A light mulch around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds, but keep mulch away from the trunk to prevent rot.
