Siberian Pea Tree seeds, from the Caragana arborescens plant, offer an excellent opportunity to grow a hardy and versatile shrub. This deciduous shrub, native to Siberia and parts of China, is known for its vibrant yellow flowers in spring and its ability to fix nitrogen in the soil.

Siberian Pea Tree is adaptable to a variety of soil types and is drought-tolerant once established. It serves multiple purposes in the garden, from providing ornamental beauty to acting as a windbreak or hedge.

Its edible peas, produced in abundance, add a unique culinary element, making it a valuable addition to any landscape.

Natural Germination: Siberian Pea Tree seeds benefit from scarification before planting. Alternatively, they can be sown directly in late January for natural stratification over winter.

Artificial Scarification: To scarify the seeds artificially, soak them in hot (not boiling) water for 24 hours before planting. You may need to repeat this a few times – make sure you remove the swollen seeds that were successfully scarified the first time. They benefit from 30 days in the fridge, however this isn’t strictly necessary.
