Lawson Cypress ‘Royal Gold’ Chamaecyparis lawsoniana ‘Royal Gold’ is a beautiful evergreen conifer that adds golden warmth to gardens year-round. This compact tree is loved for its bright, golden-yellow foliage that keeps its brilliant colour in all seasons. ‘Royal Gold’ reaches 4-6 metres tall over two decades, developing an attractive conical form that provides structure and continuous interest in garden spaces.
The golden foliage makes this cypress special. Its fine, scale-like leaves grow in flat sprays, giving a soft, feathery appearance. The golden-yellow tones are most intense on fresh growth, making a pleasant contrast with the more mature darker foliage. This sunny colouration lasts all year, offering constant brightness and warmth to the garden.
This Lawson Cypress variety suits our climate well. It’s tough and handles cold winters, though it benefits from protection against strong winds. ‘Royal Gold’ does best in full sun, which keeps its colour bright, but it will also grow in partial shade.
This tree is fairly easy to look after. It keeps its natural shape without regular pruning, though light trimming is fine if wanted. ‘Royal Gold’ grows in most soil types, provided drainage is good.

Water regularly when young, but once established, it’s fairly drought-tolerant. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Pruning isn’t essential, but you can shape it in late winter if needed. Feed with a balanced fertiliser in spring.

Seeds
We generally send seeds out via Royal Mail Second Class. It’s the safest and easiest way to deliver seeds.
Young Trees
Young trees (Less than 1.2m) will generally be sent via Evri.
Larger quantities of young trees will be sent via ParcelForce or pallet courier..
Huge Trees
Some of our huge trees are too tall to be sent via a courier. They are generally only available for collection from our nursery, local delivery or via occasionally pallet courier. This will be shown on the individual product page.
