Nootka Cypress ‘Moonshot’ Chamaecyparis nootkatensis is an eye-catching slender conifer that develops into a compact, vertical rocket-like form. The rich green foliage cascades in elegant sprays, producing a waterfall appearance down the straight, tall trunk. This variety maintains a narrow, column-like shape rather than spreading outwards like many conifers, making it ideal for compact spaces. New growth emerges in spring with a pale, silvery shade that looks lovely against the older foliage. The branches grow slightly upwards before curving downwards, which adds to its distinctive rocket appearance. It’s an excellent option for gaining height without taking up much ground space in gardens. The foliage remains vibrant and attractive throughout the year, looking especially beautiful when touched by morning dew or frost.
Plant your Moonshot Nootka Cypress in any well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. While it’s not fussy about soil type, good drainage is essential. Water regularly in the first growing season until established, then only during dry spells. No regular feeding is needed – a yearly application of general fertiliser in spring is plenty. The natural columnar shape means very little pruning is required. If needed, trim lightly in late summer to maintain the narrow form. Though naturally wind-resistant, avoid very exposed sites while young.

Seeds
We generally send seeds out via Royal Mail Second Class. It’s the safest and easiest way to deliver seeds.
Young Trees
Young trees (Less than 1.2m) will generally be sent via Evri.
Larger quantities of young trees will be sent via ParcelForce or pallet courier..
Huge Trees
Some of our huge trees are too tall to be sent via a courier. They are generally only available for collection from our nursery, local delivery or via occasionally pallet courier. This will be shown on the individual product page.
