Mountain Pine – Pinus uncinata is a remarkably hardy evergreen conifer native to the mountain ranges of central and southern Europe, where it thrives in challenging alpine conditions. This resilient pine displays an attractive, irregular growth habit that becomes increasingly characterful with age, making it an excellent choice for gardeners seeking a tree with genuine mountain character. The dense, dark green needles grow in pairs and create a lush, textured appearance throughout the year, whilst the reddish-brown bark develops attractive fissures as the tree matures.

This adaptable pine performs exceptionally well in exposed positions and tolerates poor soils that would challenge many other conifers.
