Natural Germination: Pinus strobus seeds typically benefit from a period of cold stratification to mimic winter conditions. Sowing the seeds outdoors in autumn allows them to undergo natural stratification during the winter, preparing them for germination in spring.

Artificial Stratification: For artificial stratification, mix the seeds with moist sand and store them in a refrigerator at 2-5ยฐC for about 60-90 days. This simulates the winter chill, breaking the dormancy of the seeds. After this period, sow the seeds in a warm environment, ideally at a temperature of 18-22ยฐC, to encourage germination.
