The Coast Redwood ‘Loma Prieta Spike’ – *Sequoia sempervirens* ‘Loma Prieta Spike’ is a remarkable cultivar that brings bold character to gardens. This coast redwood shows vigorous, sturdy growth with an upright weeping habit that creates an impressive vertical feature.
‘Loma Prieta Spike’ stands out with its strong central leader that shoots straight upward. The side branches hang down in an elegant weeping fashion, draped around the main trunk. This mix of tall, direct growth and drooping branches makes a bold statement piece for any garden.
This cultivar keeps a neater, more consistent shape compared to the main species, which tends to grow in a less predictable way. Growing 2 feet (60 cm) or more each year, it’s perfect for gardeners wanting quick results and dramatic impact.
A ten-year-old ‘Loma Prieta Spike’ will stand about 20 feet (6 m) tall and spread 6 feet (2 m) wide. This makes it a great pick for larger gardens where you want something that really catches the eye.
‘Loma Prieta Spike’ is fairly easy to care for and works well in different soil types. It does well in full sun or partial shade and copes with both coastal and inland growing conditions, making it suitable for gardens across various areas.

Seeds
We generally send seeds out via Royal Mail Second Class. It’s the safest and easiest way to deliver seeds.
Young Trees
Young trees (Less than 1.2m) will generally be sent via Evri.
Larger quantities of young trees will be sent via ParcelForce or pallet courier..
Huge Trees
Some of our huge trees are too tall to be sent via a courier. They are generally only available for collection from our nursery, local delivery or via occasionally pallet courier. This will be shown on the individual product page.
