Nootka Cypress Pendula *Xanthocyparis nootkatensis* ‘Pendula’ is an exceptional conifer that adds elegance and striking form to gardens.
This drooping variety of the Nootka Cypress features distinctive pendulous branches that cascade gracefully downwards from an upright central trunk. The foliage forms flat sprays of scale-like leaves in deep green tones that stay vibrant all year round. With age, the tree creates a narrow, columnar silhouette with a wider base, forming a characteristic cone shape.
The result resembles a living green waterfall or fountain, providing an outstanding vertical feature in gardens. Small, unobtrusive cones occasionally appear in spring, adding gentle seasonal appeal. ‘Pendula’ is prized for its striking architectural qualities, working beautifully as a specimen tree or centrepiece in both formal and informal garden settings.
This species is also called *Cupressus nootkatensis*, *Chamaecyparis nootkatensis* and *Callitropsis nootkatensis*.

Plant *Xanthocyparis nootkatensis* ‘Pendula’ in well-draining soil in full sun to partial shade. It prefers moist, slightly acidic soil but can tolerate a range of conditions. Water regularly during establishment and in dry periods. Apply a layer of mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Minimal pruning is required; remove only dead or damaged branches as needed. Protect from strong winds, especially in colder regions. Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring to maintain healthy growth.

We generally send seeds out via Royal Mail Second Class. It’s the safest and easiest way to deliver seeds.
Young Trees
Young trees (Less than 1.2m) will generally be sent via Evri.
Larger quantities of young trees will be sent via ParcelForce or pallet courier..
Huge Trees
Some of our huge trees are too tall to be sent via a courier. They are generally only available for collection from our nursery, local delivery or via occasionally pallet courier. This will be shown on the individual product page.
