Lawson Cypress ‘Summer Snow’ *Chamaecyparis lawsoniana* ‘Summer Snow’ is a beautiful evergreen conifer that adds year-round colour to gardens. This medium-sized tree is loved for its striking foliage, which shows off gorgeous green and creamy-white variegation. ‘Summer Snow’ usually reaches 5-7 metres tall over 20 years, developing an attractive conical form that brings structure and visual appeal to any garden space.
The foliage makes this tree really special. The delicate, scale-like leaves grow in flat sprays, creating a soft, feathery look. The vibrant green leaves are heavily marked with creamy-white tips, giving the whole tree a bright, snow-dusted look that’s especially noticeable in summer – which explains the name. This lovely variegation creates wonderful contrast with other plants and helps light up darker corners of the garden.
This Lawson Cypress variety suits our climate really well. It’s tough and handles cold winters, though it benefits from shelter against strong winds. ‘Summer Snow’ does best in full sun to partial shade, with the most vibrant colours developing in sunnier spots.
This tree won’t give you too much work to do. It keeps its natural shape without much pruning, though you can give it a light trim if you want to. ‘Summer Snow’ also grows happily in different soil types, as long as drainage is good.

Lawson Cypress is relatively easy to care for in gardens. Plant in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Water regularly when young, but once established, it’s fairly drought-tolerant. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Pruning isn’t essential, but you can shape it in late winter if needed. Feed with a balanced fertiliser in spring. This

We generally send seeds out via Royal Mail Second Class. It’s the safest and easiest way to deliver seeds.
Young Trees
Young trees (Less than 1.2m) will generally be sent via Evri.
Larger quantities of young trees will be sent via ParcelForce or pallet courier..

Some of our huge trees are too tall to be sent via a courier. They are generally only available for collection from our nursery, local delivery or via occasionally pallet courier. This will be shown on the individual product page.
