Nootka Cypress ‘Moonshot’ – Chamaecyparis nootkatensis is an eye-catching slender conifer with a distinctive narrow, rocket-like growth habit. The rich green foliage cascades downwards in elegant sprays, forming a waterfall pattern down the vertical trunk. This variety maintains its compact, upright column shape rather than spreading outwards, making it ideal for tight spaces. New spring growth emerges with attractive silvery highlights that complement the darker mature needles beautifully. The branches angle upwards initially before drooping gracefully, enhancing its distinctive spear-like silhouette. It’s an excellent option for gaining vertical interest without taking up much ground space in gardens. The evergreen foliage remains vibrant throughout the seasons and looks especially attractive when adorned with dew or frost.

Plant your Moonshot Nootka Cypress in any well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. While it’s not fussy about soil type, good drainage is essential. Water regularly in the first growing season until established, then only during dry spells. No regular feeding is needed – a yearly application of general fertiliser in spring is plenty. The natural columnar shape means very little pruning is required. If needed, trim lightly in late summer to maintain the narrow form. Though naturally wind-resistant, avoid very exposed sites while young.

Seeds
We generally send seeds out via Royal Mail Second Class. It’s the safest and easiest way to deliver seeds.

Young Trees
Young trees (Less than 1.2m) will generally be sent via Evri.
Larger quantities of young trees will be sent via ParcelForce or pallet courier..

Huge Trees
Some of our huge trees are too tall to be sent via a courier. They are generally only available for collection from our nursery, local delivery or via occasionally pallet courier. This will be shown on the individual product page.
