Hinoki Cypress *Chamaecyparis obtusa* ‘Tempelhof’ is a striking cultivar of this Japanese evergreen conifer. This particular variety stands out amongst other Hinoki Cypress cultivars for its unique characteristics.
‘Tempelhof’ is a cultivated form that keeps the classic yellow-green foliage of Hinoki Cypress but grows into a neat, pointed dome shape. The evergreen leaves start off with bright yellow tones in a cup-shaped formation, gradually developing into deeper yellow-green shades as they age. Winter brings attractive bronzy-brown tinges to the leaf edges. This shrub works brilliantly for adding height to mixed borders and rock gardens, bringing elegance to any outdoor space.
With its beautiful golden green colour and tidy growth habit, ‘Tempelhof’ works perfectly in rock gardens, borders, or as a feature plant in pots and containers. It’s also great in mixed plantings where its colour creates lovely contrasts with neighbouring plants.
‘Tempelhof’ is straightforward to grow, suiting both new and seasoned gardeners. Choose a position with full sun to partial shade to get the best leaf colour. It likes well-drained, slightly acidic soil but adapts to most soil conditions. Water well during the first growing season to help roots establish, then reduce watering once settled. This cypress handles dry conditions well once mature. Pruning isn’t essential, but light trimming in late winter or early spring helps maintain shape if wanted. Apply slow-release fertiliser in spring for healthy growth.

Seeds
We generally send seeds out via Royal Mail Second Class. It’s the safest and easiest way to deliver seeds.
Young Trees
Young trees (Less than 1.2m) will generally be sent via Evri.
Larger quantities of young trees will be sent via ParcelForce or pallet courier..
Huge Trees
Some of our huge trees are too tall to be sent via a courier. They are generally only available for collection from our nursery, local delivery or via occasionally pallet courier. This will be shown on the individual product page.
