Sawara Cypress ‘Filip’s Happy Day’ *Chamaecyparis pisifera* is a delightful compact conifer that adds bright colour to gardens. This small evergreen stands out with its vibrant creamy-white foliage that looks brilliant alongside other garden plants. The leaves have a lovely soft, feathery feel that makes this plant quite tactile.
‘Filip’s Happy Day’ grows slowly and stays nice and compact. It usually gets to about 1 metre tall and wide after 10 years, which makes it brilliant for smaller gardens, rockeries, or growing in pots. You won’t need to worry about it taking over your space like some conifers do.
This Sawara Cypress variety is really easy to look after and needs very little trimming to keep its natural rounded, bushy shape. It’s quite tough too, coping with different soil types as long as water drains away well. ‘Filip’s Happy Day’ does well in full sun or partial shade, though you’ll get the best colour in sunnier spots.
The all-year interest of ‘Filip’s Happy Day’ makes it really popular. Its pale foliage keeps the garden bright through every season and looks particularly good next to darker green plants or shrubs with red leaves. During winter, when lots of plants have died back, this little cypress keeps going, giving your garden structure and colour.

It looks lovely with other small conifers, making interesting mixes of colour and shape. Seeds
We generally send seeds out via Royal Mail Second Class. It’s the safest and easiest way to deliver seeds.
Young Trees
Young trees (Less than 1.2m) will generally be sent via Evri.
Larger quantities of young trees will be sent via ParcelForce or pallet courier..
Huge Trees
Some of our huge trees are too tall to be sent via a courier. They are generally only available for collection from our nursery, local delivery or via occasionally pallet courier. This will be shown on the individual product page.
