Japanese Larch *Larix kaempferi* ‘Stiff Weeping’ is a special form of the Japanese larch tree. This deciduous conifer comes from Japan and is loved for its beautiful looks and ability to grow in many different conditions.

The ‘Stiff Weeping’ variety stands out because of how it grows. Its branches hang down in a lovely weeping style, making a graceful and stunning feature. Gardeners often pick this variety for decoration, as it brings elegance and drama to gardens and parks.

The leaves of Japanese Larch *Larix kaempferi* ‘Stiff Weeping’ are fine and needle-shaped. They start light green in spring, get darker through summer, then turn beautiful golden-yellow in autumn before dropping. This yearly colour show makes it even more attractive.

Japanese Larch *Larix kaempferi*, including the ‘Stiff Weeping’ form, can handle different soil types well, though it likes soil that drains properly. It also does best in spots that get plenty of sun.

For size, ‘Stiff Weeping’ usually grows to about 10 to 15 feet (3 to 4.5 metres) tall and wide, so it’s quite a compact tree.

Because it stays fairly small, the Stiff Weeping larch works well in smaller gardens, on patios, and in pots. It looks lovely planted by a pond or stream too, adding to the beauty of water features.

Top grafted at 1.2m.

Supplied about 1.5m tall in a 10 litre pot.
