Black Pine ‘Green Rocket’ *Pinus nigra* is an outstanding upright conifer that grows in a tall, slender column. This special cultivar develops as a narrow spire with rich green needles clustered tightly along the vertical branches. The rigid, long needles appear in pairs and form a thick, lush texture that looks good all year round. It’s an ideal option for compact gardens where vertical interest is wanted without taking up much space. This pine grows upwards rather than outwards, maintaining its distinctive narrow rocket form naturally without much trimming required. The bold vertical silhouette looks especially dramatic in winter when it stands out against overcast skies. It’s excellent as a narrow screen, planted in twos to frame entrances or pathways, or as an eye-catching feature plant.
Position your Green Rocket Pine in full sun where it has room to grow upwards freely. It tolerates various soil conditions but requires good drainage. Water well during the first year after planting until roots are established, then only in dry periods. An annual application of general-purpose fertiliser in spring is sufficient. The naturally upright habit means minimal pruning is necessary, although you can limit the height by cutting back the main growing shoot in spring. Whilst it handles wind quite well thanks to its slim profile, shelter it from very exposed positions.

Seeds
We generally send seeds out via Royal Mail Second Class. It’s the safest and easiest way to deliver seeds.
Young Trees
Young trees (Less than 1.2m) will generally be sent via Evri.
Larger quantities of young trees will be sent via ParcelForce or pallet courier..
Huge Trees
Some of our huge trees are too tall to be sent via a courier. They are generally only available for collection from our nursery, local delivery or via occasionally pallet courier. This will be shown on the individual product page.
