Swamp Cypress *Taxodium distichum* ‘Pévé Minaret’ is a lovely dwarf form of the classic wetland tree. This neat cultivar brings all the charm of its larger cousin in a much smaller package.

This variety has a tight, upright cone shape that grows quite slowly. Over a decade, it will reach just 2-3 metres tall. This compact size makes it ideal for smaller gardens where space matters.

The soft, needle-like leaves feel wonderful to the touch. They grow in neat horizontal rows, giving the tree a lovely tiered look that catches the eye.

Come autumn, the green foliage shifts to beautiful rusty-brown tones before dropping. This seasonal change adds real interest to gardens.

Though small, ‘Pévé Minaret’ keeps the Swamp Cypress knack for handling soggy ground. It thrives in damp spots where many other trees would fail.

The reddish-brown bark looks good through winter months. Its tidy size also means it works well in large pots.

Adding ‘Pévé Minaret’ gives you a pocket-sized version of a wonderful wetland giant. Its neat form and tough nature make it a great choice for any garden.

Swamp Cypress *Taxodium distichum* ‘Pévé Minaret’ is straightforward. Plant it in full sun or partial shade. It prefers moist, slightly acidic soil but adapts well to various conditions. This tree can tolerate wet soils and even occasional flooding. Water regularly during its first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, it’s quite adaptable to different moisture levels. Pruning is generally not necessary due to its compact form. If needed, prune lightly in late winter. Feed annually in spring with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser. ‘Peve Minaret’ is generally pest and disease resistant. However, keep an eye out for spider mites in dry conditions. In colder areas, provide some winter protection for young trees until they’re well-established.
