The Weymouth Pine ‘Tiny Kurls’ is a delightful dwarf cultivar of the Eastern White Pine, Pinus strobus. This compact, slow-growing tree is perfect for small gardens and urban spaces, reaching a maximum height of just 40cm at maturity. Its unique, tightly curled blue-green needles give it a wonderfully textured, ornamental appearance that adds visual interest throughout the year.
‘Tiny Kurls’ is an excellent choice for creating low-growing, informal hedges, rock gardens, or as a focal point in mixed borders. Its dense, mounding habit makes it ideal for softening hard edges and adding a touch of natural charm. Despite its diminutive size, this hardy pine is surprisingly resilient, thriving in a wide range of soil types and tolerating both full sun and partial shade.
Caring for the Weymouth Pine ‘Tiny Kurls’ is relatively straightforward. Plant it in well-drained soil and water regularly during the first year to establish a strong root system. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and requires minimal maintenance. Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain its compact shape and encourage new growth. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring to support healthy foliage and vigorous development.
