Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Kosteri’ is fairly slow growing, evergreen, dark, glossy green coloured conifer which has bronzed tips in the Winter. ‘Nana Kosteri’ is perfect for adding interest, it’s perfectly suited for rock gardens or as a standout feature in large pots and containers all year round.

Hinoki cypress Chamaecyparis obtusa is also called Japanese cypress. The ‘Kosteri’ cultivar stands out as a popular spreading shrub with a cone-shaped form.
‘Kosteri’, which is also called ‘Nana Kosteri’, is sought after for its shiny dark green leaves on distinctively twisted branches and its broad, low-growing nature.
‘Kosteri’ has a slow growth rate and stays quite compact, eventually reaching 2.5 metres tall.
Like other Hinoki cypress Chamaecyparis obtusa types, ‘Kosteri’ prefers soil that drains well. It can cope with different soil conditions provided they don’t hold too much water. Though it thrives in full sun, it performs equally well in partial shade.
Its compact nature makes ‘Kosteri’ perfect for highlighting rock gardens, borders, or as a feature plant in pots and containers.
‘Kosteri’ seldom needs pruning because of its slow development. Consistent watering matters during the first few years and through long dry periods, but avoid waterlogged conditions.

Seeds
We generally send seeds out via Royal Mail Second Class. It’s the safest and easiest way to deliver seeds.
Young Trees
Young trees (Less than 1.2m) will generally be sent via Evri.
Larger quantities of young trees will be sent via ParcelForce or pallet courier..
Huge Trees
Some of our huge trees are too tall to be sent via a courier. They are generally only available for collection from our nursery, local delivery or via occasionally pallet courier. This will be shown on the individual product page.
